Monday Moodle - Two
Available & Vulnerable
Hello everyone,
Here is this week's Monday Moodle, which includes an excerpt from The Diary of an Old Soul. I hope you enjoy it!
Available & Vulnerable
There is an old tree in my yard with a trunk over three feet across. Its rigid grey arms reach out like a grand umbrella, providing a playground for armies of squirrels, a haven for birds, and ample autumn leaves to keep me constantly busy every November.
Each morning, the sunrise illuminates myriad shapely leaves, dazzling my eyes with uncountable shades of green. At noon, its plumes provide a comforting shade, breaking the day's heat with a cool penumbra. Through it, the sunset is accented by an infinite crossing of woven silhouettes of blackened fingers reaching in every direction.
It is an ancient friend who is older and wiser than I. It is far more stubborn and resilient, but it is always available—even when I ignore it.
Yet, it is vulnerable because it is ready, standing tall and bold, defying the sky, and seizing the earth as inspiration and model. Its availability makes it vulnerable to microbursts, tornados, storms, blight, blazes, and builder chainsaws. Still, because of its vulnerability, the world is blessed by its presence.
So it is with family, friends, and faithful influencers who, day after day, stand for all that is good in our community. Vulnerably, I stand grateful.
“Be thou the well by which I lie and rest; Be thou my tree of life, my garden ground; Be thou my home, my fire my chamber blest; My book of wisdom loved all the best …” (George MacDonald)

Wow, thanks for writing! Brought a smile to my face!
