Love is a Longing
“Love Never Fails” ~ Paul
Love Is A Longing
Love is what I am—and a longing.
It’s a desire to protect and empower.
It’s kindness whirling in reckless abandon;
Flinging my heart into selflessness.
Love holds its breath so that others can breathe.
Love lifts to see another rise.
Love roars, mews,
and then purrs—in comforting contentment.
It’s when fear strikes hardest that love laughs.
When life pounds and pummels,
Love anneals the lover
with an unbreakable resolve.
In the forge and on the anvil, love is perfected.
On the cross, love flies,
and in shame and doubt
Love shines.
Love is the extra mile,
the empty tomb,
and a cold cup of water
on a dry afternoon.
It’s a fire on the shore,
warm bread, and understanding eyes.
A faithful friend,
and determined plodding.
When the vibrant fade
to a crumbling age,
love triumphs.
in a life well-played.
Love is transferred,
it transforms,
and transcends
as God’s ultimate gift.
Love abides,
and love stays,
and when all is dark,
Love’s unquenchable glimmer lights the way.
Brighter than an atomic arc,
more brilliant than the desert sun,
It penetrates and warms;
a Gleed amid the kernel heart.
Love is the seed thought dead,
buried and forgotten,
bursting forth
With unexpected glory.
Love is, love does, love was, and love will be.
Its cries and whispers bloom as freedom’s flower.
It adorns the unsurpassed beauty
of a blossom in the snow.
Love liberates and desires no more.
Because in itself - love is all.
Jack William UrbanHello Friends,
Love is all around us, perhaps in places we never imagined possible. Yet, sometimes, it’s hard to notice amid the noise of everyday life. In his book, The Problem of Pain, C.S. Lewis suggests that love may actually be more evident during times of war, suffering, and pain than during times of contentment. I imagine seeing a candle flame on a bright mountaintop is much harder than in a dark valley. Take the risk and let your love shine upon those around you, regardless of where, when, or how. Like faith, even a small amount of love can make a significant difference. A kind word or deed to a spouse, partner, friend, coworker, child, or even a random stranger goes a long way in making the world better for everyone.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
