Day 28 – Awaiting Angels
The LORD is slow to anger and abundant in mercy ~ Numbers 14:18
Heart and Grit
For Jesus, walking alone into the desert showed commitment, but remaining there took love. Even the God-man had choices, which showed the world the melding of His heart and grit. Through His decision to stay, He embarked on an epic adventure.
Sometimes in our journey, when what we have given up is no longer necessary, we discover our freedoms and, if we go far enough, our limits. This is the point of holy indifference—where old desires lose power, and we’re no longer enslaved but free to choose. Choice is one of the Lord's most beautiful gifts; it reveals His image in us. With this gift, we respond to life in all its abundance of tears, struggles, and laughter. We don’t just react; we respond, and the difference defines our new life in Christ.
Jesus changed on His journey, and so do we. Our mediums and methods may be awkward at first, but seeds are resown in time with much love. Like the clumsy gestures of a new kid at school, we try to reconnect with more profound respect for those we know. Yet, as the torn seams of a garment are mended, the signs of the patch remain. So, we realize our scars remind us that our wounds have been healed.
Thanks for joining me on this journey. Less than two weeks to go, and I hope the Lord is especially meeting you in your day. That is my prayer.
