Day 24 – Awaiting Angels
Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow ~ Psalm 51:7
There was no applause in the deepening wilderness. Beauty and silence prepared Jesus for rejection, but nothing could prepare Him for the heartbreak He felt when people preferred their self-made images to Him. Hosana’s bathed Him before the whip thongs ravaged his back. Love and fear mingled as Christ kept His mind on His plan.
For us, the closer we get to the heart of God, the more the difference between fame and infamy blurs. In His presence, there is no one to fool. On Holy Ground, the deceptions we use to delude ourselves become as laughable as unexpected caricatures. Our delusions shatter like the magician’s trick when the audience sees behind the curtain.
Thankfully, our masks are no surprise to God, who loves us despite the charade. So, with a sigh of relief and a flood of joyful tears, the house lights rise, and the truth is made plain. A lifeline from heaven drops, and we grab on. Our grips are weak, but His firm, and neither of us lets go.
