Day 23 – Awaiting Angels
I press on toward the goal of the prize of the upward call of God ~ Philippians 3:14
With each sunrise, there is hope. The God-man noticed possibilities in the maze of perplexing canyons; around every corner, He saw a gift. He knew that in the dusty labyrinth, treasures may be found. So He traveled, bolstering His resolve, “forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead.” The light of assurance and the assurance of light pulled Him on.
Charred stumps of age-old fires remind us of our worldly desires– now lost to memory. The devastation smells of charcoal and stains our hands, yet there is a fountain among the ruins. Before us is a wadi in the waste where the ground is green, with life proving that even disasters cannot deny new growth. So amid the desolation, the green glimmer of promise remains.
And the tempter slinks away, hoping for another chance at Jesus. His sun-scorched brow hardened as he remembered the call: “You shall have no other Gods before Me”—Not Man, nor woman, nor spirit, nor ideology, nor the cunning deception of self. So we are not alone, even lost in the desert of our tumultuous times. I remember Jesus and know with certainty that all will be well
