Day 18 – Awaiting Angels
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing ~ Romans 15:13
It is easier to want if there is something to have. The desires of the God-man began to change as the desert overwhelmed Him. Then, in a flash of unexplainable revelation, the humanness of Christ recognized the magnitude of His mission and stood in the glory of whom He was meant to be, humbled with hunger yet bold in purpose. But amid His raw majesty, a strange fear awoke in Him—not a fear of harm or pain, but of insignificance.
The fear of God offers us a choice—we can face it or rebel. Facing our fears embraces a faith that somehow God has a unique place in His heart for us, believing He desires to prepare us for a place in His kingdom. Rebellion against fear commits us to a life of turning from the light— condemned to a life of constant strife, trapped in a relentless struggle to be good enough.
Choose the peace of belief—belief in the intrinsic goodness of God and His love for you. “I have placed before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life . . ..”
Twenty-three days to go in Lent. Thanks for joining me on the journey.
