Day 16 – Awaiting Angels
My heart trusts in Him ~ Psalm 28:7
As He journeyed deeper into the wilderness, the Lord possessed the courage to trust the Spirit’s path but wrestled with the trial of hindsight. As He thought about the comforts of friends and family, He was tempted to ask, “Why this road? ” Yet His trust rested on the Father's plans, so the Son was refreshed by frequent wellsprings of living water within.
Trust is faith taken out of the library and planted like a flag of truth in the grist and grind of everyday life. Trust is where we walk, faith is how we think, and the two meet in a life of service. Faith plans; trust acts. Faith commits, and trust leaps from the lion’s head and finds it can walk on air.
We pray for the faith to forgive ourselves for our wrong turns, trust in His forgiveness, and try again. Old memories haunt, old habits tempt, and old attitudes sway us from our goal, so we stand for an instant on the edge of a knife, delicately balanced between promise and pride. Yet, just at the critical moment, in the liminal space bordering doubt and joy, we see a new star in the night sky, and its incorruptible twinkle reminds us that He is faithful.
