Day 15 – Awaiting Angels

The gift of Lent is the winnowing of our worthless old garments that make way for the garment of Christ. Lent is the adventure of Jesus translated for us, a window into his story passing before us so we can follow. Christ is the pathfinder who breaks the trail. He clears the way, and we venture in pursuit.
With each step of our Lenten journey, the comparisons we thought were meaningful become trivial. As our focus becomes filled with following, the only fair comparison we can make is within as we notice the transformation of our heart in the presence of God.
As we journey through Lent, we become aware of the story threads that flow through our minds and marvel at how our desires change. This is the miracle. Step by step, day by day, our old, unhealthy comparisons fade and are gone forever, setting our souls free to love.
