Awaiting Angels - Day 39
I fear no evil, for You are with me ~ Psalm 23:4
Hope Rests on Paths We Cannot See
From the bottom of the valley, everything looks up. For us, hope rests on paths we cannot see, yet we know hope is near. Hope may be hidden somewhere buried like forgotten milestones covered by the dunes, but it is the bedrock of promise laid beneath the foundations of all we hold dear.
Christ made His way through the desert, and we must follow. Without Him, we remain beggars in the wild—forsaken, starving because we’ve forgotten how to eat, and thirsty because our mouths are closed. Unless we allow Him to lift us, we remain blind and broken with nothing left to live for. Yet, if we yield to His love, we become something extraordinary.
We sit alone, letting the sands of forgetfulness blow over us, hoping they will cover our dark spots and blot out the stains our memories refuse to dismiss. We wait because we’ve forgotten how to walk and remain at the bottom because we’ve forgotten how to climb.
Yet someone else has climbed before us, proving there is a way. They understood the treacherous paths, found safe ways, and provided guideposts. The way up is marked, and so is the way out. The way forward contains the understanding that there is more to this life than our past. There is a new adventure.
The journey through the desert of Lent is almost over; thanks for traveling this far with me. I pray that as you pass from the desert of Lent into the oasis of Holy Week, you’ll be overwhelmed by God’s love for you.
