Awaiting Angels - Day 2
Do not lose courage, for there is a reward for your work. 2 Chronicles 15:7
In the wilderness, the vanities of life fall away. The God-man Jesus walked into the desert, knowing the real things He would leave behind and the new realities He would encounter. And He knew He would never be the same because His humanity and divinity became commingled, forged through loneliness and hunger into the man that would carry the world’s sin to hell.
As I find the courage to let go of some of the things I love during Lent, my hope is to find new loves along the way. The adventure of Lent triggers curiosity. For me, the vanities of recognition and influence evaporate while the simplicity of a drop of water becomes important.
The wilderness is a hard place, but it is also a clean place. The desert is dry but refreshing, drawing reserves of courage, fortitude, and compassion as we leave the old to put on the new.
Thirty-eight days to go in Lent. May the LORD bless you on your journey. Day 3 is tomorrow.
