Awaiting Angels - Day 1
You are the God who sees me ~ Genesis 16:13
An Imaginative Journey through Lent
Day One
What did Jesus see as He first looked out over the wilderness? Did He see the brutal lands and the journey He was about to endure, or did He see beyond them, to times of rejoicing as liberated people celebrated total freedom from torment forever?
What did He feel after the thundering voice of The Father blessed Him, and the dove-like Holy Spirit descended upon His soaking body? No man had stood in that way before. No one would ever again.
The atmosphere was electric, and the air was thick as the people waited. You could have heard a pin drop. The confident thirty-year-old looked out at the crowd and, with kindly, kingly compassion, drew in a deep breath. Slowly, Jesus exhaled, and as the warm air passed His lips, everyone’s tension lifted, and a deep peace came over all who were nearby. People stood drop-jawed, astonished, and wondering what had just happened. Then, the son of a Jewish carpenter turned and, without a word, walked into the desert.
Thirty-nine days to go in Lent. May the LORD bless your journey! Part 2 tomorrow.
